About ESCA

The 21st Bunbury ESCA under-15's Cricket Festival.

The English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) is the official body of schools cricket in this country. The Bunbury Festival is the premier event within British schools and is the jewel in its crown.

Young cricketers

David English M.B.E. is the Vice President of the ESCA and founder of the Bunbury Festival, now in it's 21st year. Twenty-one years ago, David sponsored the first under-15's festival, and since then, 41 Bunbury players have gone on to play for England, and 171 have gone on to play first class cricket.

Young cricketersDuring his time as vice president the ESCA has staged two junior world cup tournaments in 1999 and 2000. In 1992 they brought over the South African under 15 cricket team, for their first tour after apartheid, to play the England team. The ESCA also sponsors the under-13's Bunbury Cup. The events are open to all schoolchildren, from all types of schools including state and private, and through the competitions and festivals they aim to find the best school's cricketers in the country.

One third of the on-the-day takings at Carlton will be supporting the ESCA.
