ABOUT THE ENGLISH SCHOOLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION

ESCA is the offical body of schools cricket in this country. The Bunbury Festival is the premier event within the British schools and is the jewel in its crown. Dr. David English MBE is the Vice President of the ESCA and founder of the Bunbury Festival, now in its 23rd year. Twenty three years ago, David sponsored the first under-15's festival, and since then, 54 Bunbury players have gone on to play for England , and 188 have gone on to play first class cricket.

The Bunbury Celebrity XI has now raised £12 million for charities and last year Dr Dave staged the first National Bunbury ESCA day on the main pitch at Lords starring England U-15 vs England U-16 - a first in cricketing history, and the Bunbury boys are back at Lords this year on the 16th September!

During his time as Vice President, the ESCA has staged two junior world cup tournaments in 1996 and 2000. In 1992 they brought over the South African U-15 cricket team, for their first tour after apartheid, to play the England team. The ESCA also sponsors the David English U-13 Bunbury Cup. The events are open to all schoolchildren, through the competitions and festivals they aim to find the best schools cricketers in the country.
